Mumpreneur delivers Wales’ first baby show to the Capital

A mother of three from Carmarthenshire, will bring the first Welsh baby show to Cardiff this month

Inspired by her experiences of isolation as a new mum, 30-year-old Kaz decided to launch a baby show business this year, aimed specifically for Welsh parents, to fill the gap she saw in the market.

The first Maud’s Baby Show, which covers everything for pregnancy, birth, babies and toddlers was named in memory of Kaz’s grandmother who urged her to follow her business dream.  The first Cardiff event will take place on the last weekend of May at the CIA.

Her determination to beat the recession and establish the events in the Welsh calendar has already resulted in new event partnerships with The Body Shop, Real Nappy Campaign Wales, the British Red Cross and the NCT, the UK’s leading charity for parents.

Leukaemia Research has been selected as the beneficiary from a percentage of each show’s ticket sales.

Free first aid lessons will be available for parents at each show from the British Red Cross, alongside parenting workshops provided by family support professional and author of the Preparenting Programme, Christine Meadows.

“From personal experience, I know how hard it can be to find and access the mountain of information you so desperately need when becoming a parent” commented Kaz.

“While these events provide a fantastic shopping opportunity for parents, they also offer a single point of information for visitors – designed to make life easier!”

“The educational and supportive environment aspects of the events are very important and are what make these shows standout. I was so excited to be approached by the NCT for support, as this shows that I’ve hit upon the right formula.”

Free professionally-staffed crèche facilities which can cater for children with special needs will also be available.

Kaz has also applied to the Welsh Assembly Government for the Maud’s Baby Shows to be recognised under the Breastfeeding Welcome Scheme, which identifies premises that understand and support the needs of breastfeeding mothers and their babies.

Maud’s Baby Show will be make its first of two Cardiff appearances at the CIA from Saturday 30th to Sunday 31st May.
