Press release / Mother-of-three delivers support to Carmarthen parents

A new event at the Carmarthen Showground next month will put parents in touch with local services and help them learn vital skills.

Wales’ first baby and toddler show will provide visitors with the opportunity to learn first aid for babies and children; how to baby massage; up to date information on maternity and paternity rights; and the importance of making a will when raising a family.

After being inspired by her experiences of isolation as a new mum, mother-of-three Kaz Deacon hopes that the Carmarthen Maud’s Baby Show in September will benefit many local families.

“As a mum raising three young children, I am only too aware of the need for information on local support and services when you first have children; and the overwhelming sense of where to start” commented Mrs Deacon from Llangennech.

“I’ve deliberately designed these shows to help parents in Wales connect with the support that’s available.  They offer a great shopping experience for parents, but more importantly, an educational and supportive environment.”

Named in memory of Mrs Deacon’s inspirational grandmother, Maud’s Baby Show will donate half of the proceeds from its ticket sales to Leukaemia Research.

Free first aid lessons will be given by the British Red Cross and free professionally-staffed crèche facilities which can cater for children with special needs will also be available.   A free large soft play area will be available for young children, including a bouncy castle, a soft ball pit and face painting.

The event will feature over 30 exhibitors providing products and services in Wales.

Her determination to beat the recession and establish the events in the Welsh calendar has meant Mrs Deacon has already developed partnerships with the Carmarthenshire Children’s Partnership, the Welsh Assembly Breastfeeding Welcome Scheme, the Genesis Wales project, the Twf project, Real Nappy Campaign Wales, the British Red Cross, Ecover, The Body Shop, and the NCT, the UK’s leading charity for parents.

Visitors to the show at the Carmarthen Showground on Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th September will also have the chance to enter free prize draws to win a 5 star Bluestone family holiday; as well as family tickets to attractions including the Dinosaur Park in Tenby, Oakwood Theme Park and LEGOLAND in Windsor.

Maud’s Baby Shows are recognised by the Welsh Assembly under the Breastfeeding Welcome Scheme.
