Legal sector’s big bang means stellar performance from Mogers

Press release issued for Mogers, a Bath law firm

A number of recent business changes by one of Bath’s oldest and most established law firms demonstrate it can walk the talk.

Mogers has this year received more accolades for the way in which it provides legal services and Steven Treharne, the newly appointed managing partner is determined to continue this success.

“This firm’s well-selected team of progressive individuals is absolutely key” he commented.

“We have a great reputation for not living up to the stuffy law firm stereotype; for listening carefully and being easy to work with. This keen listening has meant the development of new ways of providing legal services which give us that real edge.”

Mogers recently launched an iPhone App for employment law updates. It has also created a complementary and award-winning HR company, comprised of experts both from and beyond the legal field. The Bath firm has replicated this on the construction side, providing a team of specialists who can advise across the board.

In March, Mogers became the first legal practice in the South West to secure the Law Society’s Conveyancing Quality Scheme accreditation – the mark of excellence for the home buying process.

Last year the firm expanded its private client services to Hong Kong, providing expat services pertaining to personal relationship breakdowns, as well as acting for elderly and vulnerable clients.

The backdrop to these changes and Mogers’ determination to keep punching above its weight is the commonly dubbed ‘Tesco law’.  The legal world’s big bang change to law firm practice mean that non-lawyers can now invest in and own law firms.

“The firms which ultimately survive this shake up will be those offering genuinely tailored services of a high level” Treharne explained. “Smaller firms are expected to suffer in the long-term, through their inability to compete with this radical market change.

“Our focus has always been on providing a high level of client service. We’re not in competition with those offering an off-the-shelf option, our market is much more sophisticated and therefore in need of a wider range of experience. My role is to use our trusted heritage to keep pushing us to the next level – something we know our clients really value.”

Steven Treharne’s appointment as managing partner for Mogers follows his committed career progression with the firm, which has its head office on Bath’s Queen Square.

After joining Mogers in 1993, he later became a partner in 2000. His specialism lies in commercial property with particular expertise in rural and urban development land transactions, site acquisitions, the structuring of investment sales and the financing of sites.

Steven’s promotion to Mogers’ helm sees him takeover the 12-year tenure of Derwent Campbell, who specialises in will drafting, probate and the administration of estates and trusts. He will continue to head up the private client side of the business.

Commenting on Steven’s appointment, Derwent added:   “Steven now carries responsibility for the firm and its people; he has a raft of new ideas and enthusiasm which will carry us forward into a new era.

“When we all pull together we can and do succeed. I expect that the firm will be as different in 10 years time, as it was 10 years ago and I think this is healthy.”

Mogers Solicitors LLP provides high quality legal advice and complementary services spanning the needs of both private individuals and businesses.
