Somerset-based Fussels Fine Foods has marked the second anniversary of its Extra Virgin rapeseed oil with the launch of a 20 litre option for the catering trade.  The oil is also available in 5 litre cans.

The golden oil’s popularity continues to grow, thanks to its culinary versatility and Fussels has responded to demand for increased volume orders with the larger quantity option.

A genuine British alternative to olive oil, rapeseed oil boasts a much higher smoking point, making it ideal for frying, baking and roasting – as well as a base for marinades and dressings.  Unlike olive oil, its subtle taste has the ability to enhance, rather than mask the flavour of other ingredients.

Rapeseed oil also boasts positive health qualities, containing generous servings of the essential fatty acids Omega 3 and 6, lower bad saturated fats than olive oil and high amounts of good monounsaturated fats, alongside being an excellent source of vitamin E.  Its stability also means that these qualities are maintained during cooking, which is not true of olive oil.

The cold-pressed golden oil is grown, pressed and bottled in Rode, North Somerset and won a gold accolade under the Sauce category of the 2007 Taste of the West Awards for its ‘quality and integrity’.
