Press release / Dyne Drewett qualifies Sherborne Pinks for Sports Match grant

Press release issued for South West law firm Dyne Drewett

The South West law firm has become the proud supporter of Sherborne Girls Rugby Club’s under 18 and under 15 squads – the Pinks – who are already achieving notable results since their formation in May this year.

The £1,000 donation made to the two new teams provides the financial backing needed to apply for a ‘Sports Match’ grant, which will supply the squads with kit and much-needed funding for the next two years.

“Dyne Drewett has provided us with the funding and support that will enable us to move forward and progress into regional and, hopefully, national leagues” said team manager, Pamela Peacocke.

“Many parents of players of the Cubs Sherborne Rugby Club enjoyed watching their sons growing with the Club and felt there was an ideal opportunity to involve their daughters. In 8 short months, The Pinks have blossomed, enjoying two friendly away matches with great success. With local coaching and the involvement of Bath and England player, Marley Packer, The Pinks are becoming an extremely professional squad.”

The ethos of the girls’ teams is to develop their skills as rugby players as well as encouraging team spirit, self-confidence, and greater appreciation for the game.   This support and enthusiasm has already resulted in three players being selected for the Dorset & Wilts U18 squad – Hannah McWilliams, Lauren Peacocke and Perrie-Lee Griffiths.

The Sherborne Pinks are also planning an Open Day on the 18th November, to tie in with the Dorset and Wilts County match to be held at their home ground, the Terraces.   This provides an occasion to attract new members, by show casing girls rugby to a wider audience.

Sherborne RFC was established in 1980 and is renowned as a friendly and hospitable club, its emphasis is on enjoyment, involvement and good sportsmanship, which is particularly reflected in the youngest teams.   Anyone interested in finding out more about the Sherborne Pink teams should contact Pamela Peacocke on 01963 441212 or email pamela_141@fsmail.net
