Press release / Dyne Drewett celebrates quadruple graduate success

Four members of a South West firm of solicitors have been recognised for significant professional achievement

A member of Dyne Drewett’s residential property team; and two of the firm’s wills, trust and probate specialists graduated this week as Fellows of the Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX).

A family specialist at the firm has been granted status by ILEX as a Legal Executive Advocate and become one of the few family specialists with this accolade.

This professional recognition represents long-held career ambitions for each of the graduates and allows the Somerset and Dorset firm to provide a broader range of legal services and support.

Helen James, who has qualified as one of a few Family Law Advocates in the UK is the first Fellow of ILEX to qualify within Somerset under the new assessment procedure.

“I am overjoyed to have gained this qualification.  The course was extremely challenging but well worth the effort.  It means that I can now represent individuals in the Family Proceedings Court or in open court.  Being able to offer a complete service will I know be appreciated by clients, particularly during extremely difficult and stressful times” commented Miss James.

ILEX President, Lesley Graham said:  “My heartiest congratulations to Helen, one of the very first Legal Executive Advocates in the country to complete our new and demanding Family Law advocacy course. I am delighted she will now able to apply her skills in court on behalf of her clients.”

This professional recognition enables Miss James to offer a comprehensive seamless service to clients, taking their case from Family Proceedings Courts through to County Courts.  This includes dealing with contested evidential hearings as well as where a party could be sentenced to a term of imprisonment, something Fellows of ILEX have not been able to do in the past.

Their graduation to Fellows of ILEX recognises Dyne Drewett’s legal executives Samantha Pattle, Cara Burr and Cathryn Woolley as fully qualified lawyers.

Mrs Burr has also received the renowned STEP Diploma and full membership of, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.  Mrs Woolley is also studying to achieve this diploma and Mrs Pattle has undertaken further studies to qualify as a solicitor.

“On behalf of my colleagues I’m keen to express our thanks to the Partners for supporting us with our studies.  It’s great to be part of such a forward-thinking firm that continues to invest in its staff” commented Mrs Burr.

David Morgan, managing partner of Dyne Drewett added:

“This is great news for our private client department and I’m very proud to be among such talented colleagues.  They have all done extremely well to achieve these qualifications, which involve a huge amount of effort and commitment.”
