Press release / Archangel launches appeal to help little girl eat and drink again

Press release issued for Archangel in Frome, a former coaching inn turned bar, restaurant and rooms

Owners of a Frome pub have adopted a charity set up to help provide specialist treatment for a young girl.

On Friday 20th July, Archangel will introduce its One for Ruby menu options to fundraise for The Ruby Lambert Trust.

On 27th April 2010, five-year-old Ruby Lambert was enjoying a typical day at school when she collapsed with massive heart failure, due to a rare undiagnosed cardiac condition, CPVT. Her terrible ordeal resulted in a severe brain injury, which means that Ruby now requires long-term specialist treatment, care and equipment to continue her recovery.

“When we heard about Ruby’s story we really wanted to offer some way of helping” commented Archangel’s general manager Lisa Penny.

“There have already been some amazing fundraising efforts in Frome to help provide her with the care she requires, so hopefully our Ruby additions to the drink and food menus will make this go even further.”

From Friday 20th July Archangel will donate £1 to The Ruby Lambert Trust for every burger ordered from the bar or restaurant menu, every new ‘Ruby Red’ cocktail and every item from the Eager Beaver children’s menu.

One of the milestones Ruby’s parents hope she will be able to reach is to be able to eat and drink more easily. She is currently tube fed.

“As part of her therapy and recovery, Ruby has had to relearn how to be able to swallow safely and easily. There is a particular treatment designed for this which could well be an option for her” added her mother, Catherine.

Although Ruby doesn’t live in Frome, a number of fund-raising appeals held by local residents, to help supporther on-going recover mean that her name is now a familiar one in the town.

“It’s as if Ruby has become an adopted citizen of Frome – we are so thrilled that her story has inspired so many people here and in surrounding areas,” commented Simon, Ruby’s dad, adding “we are so excited by the Archangel’s great fundraising plan, and we can’t wait to come along and try some of the menu ourselves.”

Archangel’s fund-raising campaign for Ruby starts on Friday – details on items included on the One for Ruby menu can be found on the pub’s website: archangelfrome.com. For more information about Ruby Lambert, visit one4ruby.com
