SOUTH-WEST rapeseed farmer Andy Fussell is up for another national industry award and this time, he hopes to win

The Rode food producer has been selected as a finalist for the 2010 Food and Farming Industry Awards.

‘My fingers are firmly crossed for a result with this nomination, but yet again, I’m really proud to have been selected among the farming industry’s finest’ commented Andy, who has been shortlisted for the Progressive Farmer of the Year category.

This award nomination follows his recent recognition at the Farmers Weekly Awards for his diversification success.

Andy uses 130 tonnes of his own oilseed rape to produce his cold-pressed rapeseed oil which has found favour with renowned chefs such as Rick Stein.

The Progressive Farmer of the Year award grouping champions those re-engineering farming through good business practice that recognises the importance of marketing.  The category for rural entrepreneurs is sponsored by Agrovista, the UK’s leading authority on crop management, which will reveal the winner next month.

Farm Business magazine holds the Food and Farming Industry Awards which will this year be celebrated at the House of Commons on the 10th December and hosted by James Paice MP, Minister for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs.
