Campaign to save Bath’s boozers holds free history lesson for pub-goers

The Inn at Freshford’s campaign to protect Bath’s endangered hostelries is staging a free public history lesson about the city’s lost pubs – in a bid to learn from the mistakes of landlords of old. On Wednesday, October 17th, the Inn at Freshford will host a talk by local historian Kirsten Elliott, author of ‘Bath Pubs’ and ‘The Lost Pubs of Bath’.

Keep Frome Local launches Independence Day

The campaign group opposed to another large supermarket in Frome has launched Independence Day – an event focussing on supermarkets, big retail and the future of communities. The one-day event will be held on Saturday 17th November at the Wesley Chapel, Frome. It has attracted speakers with national acclaim, such as Joanna Blythman, author of Shopped, the exposé of British supermarkets; and Andrew Simms, a fellow of the New Economics Foundation and the author of Tescopoly.
